The Engine Kit Contents

We've ordered the Jabiru 3300 Engine and Firewall-Forward Kit for a Europa classic aircraft. This is a listing of what I found in it when I unpacked it the other day (early September 2000) and what I made of it:

 Jabiru 3300 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine with starter, fuel pump, carburettor, dual magnetos, oil filter, oil pressure sender, & alternator installed.
 Europa-specific engine mount (very neat and fits like a glove to the undercarriage frame).
 Mount Fixings:
-Undercarriage frame to engine mount frame bolts, washers, locknuts (4 sets);
-engine mount frame to engine bolts, washers, nyloc nuts (4 sets);
-Rubber isolators (engine to mounting frame) male + female (4 sets);
-3-piece turned aluminium bush/washer combination to hold isolators (4 sets);

 Propeller (wooden 60"x48" two-blade with re-inforced leading edge - some earlier kits came with the coarser 50" pitch);
-2.5" propeller Extension (steel crank-shaft to prop flange adapter which replaces the shorter part fitted to the engine);
-propeller fixing hardware (112mm bolts, washers, belleville washers, nylocs) (6 sets);
-aluminium plate propeller flange (spinner adapter?).
 Spinner and flange (this spinner is narrower than the original Europa spinner, more in line with the Jabiru design).
-Spinner outer moulding (gelcoated);
-Internal glass flange to be fixed inside the spinner, in front of the propeller;
-Rear flange to go behind the propeller and secure the spinner;
-Rear flange fixing hardware (captive nuts & rivets, tinnerman washers, countersunk screws - 6 sets)

 Top and Bottom cowlings for Europa Classic w. ramair inlets & oil cooler chin scoop pre-moulded.
 Cowlings Fixings:
-Captive nuts, coutersunk screws, tinnerman washers, rivets (12 sets);
-Rubber sealing strip for top-bottom flange (1 per side);
-Spring-loaded quick-lock fittings with aluminium ties & rivets for top-bottom (6 sets);
-Spring-loaded quick-lock fittings with rivets for top - fuselage (4 sets);
 Air induction system:
-Fibreglass firewall-mounted filter box (with filter element), and combined hot air mixer box (with integral mixer flap);
-Air box fixings (rivers) and box lid fixing (brass screws/washers);
-NACCA duct (fibreglass, in two halves) to be fixed into lower cowling;
-Carb-heat muff and hose clamps to attach to exhaust muffler;
-Carb heat knob, cable & label;
-Scat hose and hose clamps (6) to connect induction components.
 RamAir cooling system:
-Fibreglass ducting to guide air from the two inlets to the fins around the cylinders (LH and RH);
-There are two extra deflectors which have to be shaped and fitted to each duct, to deflect air over the rear two cylinders (not supplied);
-'L'-shaped brackets and spring-loaded couplings to hold inner portion of duct to central cylinder of each side - the outer sides are held with the rocker-cover bolts;
-Rubber strip to seal the ramair ducts to the cowling inlets.

 Oil Cooler kit (which sounds like a useful addition for Spain!):
-Oil to air heat exchanger (mounts under the sump);
-heat exchanger brackets (LH & RH);
-heat exchanger to bracket fixing hardware (captive nuts & rivets, washers, nuts - 4 sets);
-bracket to sump fixing hardware (rivets);
-Oil hose and protective firesleeve, with hose clamps & lock wire;
-Oil filter extension / oil diverter fitting with hose firtree fittings.
 Crank-case ventilation / oil trap kit:
-Oil vent hosing with hoseclamp, firesleeve with lockwire;
-Oil trap bottle with GRP bracket and hose fittings;
-Oil vent end tube;
-Oil vent end support bracket and rivets.

 Some electrical systems.
-Fibreglass battery tray (for a small gell-cell battery);
-Adjustable tie-down strap for the battery;
-Aluminium brackets for tie-down, with rivets (2 sets);
-Cable for battery earth to Engine;
-Cable for battery positive to starter solenoid;
-Starter solenoid (Lucas) - the cable from solenoid to starter comes pre-attached to the starter;
-Alternator regulator and wiring loom.
 Fuel hose and firesleeving, bulkhead pass-through fitting.
 Exhaust pipes are pre-fitted to each bank, but the exhaust muffler is separate and is held in place with springs (provided). The exhaust muffler outlet pipes can located to suit our package, and must be welded in by us.
 A kit of parts is provided to make up a throttle cable & linkage, but no throttle lever is included, so you design that yourself!
