Once upon a time we were expectant parents. That seems so long ago now, it's hard to remember. To help us all remember, here are a few images. The first scan:
-
Baby
Scan at 12 weeks, with labels to identify the various bits - just in
case you, like me, are not adept at interpreting an ultrasound!
-
Another Baby
Scan at 12 weeks, larger scale but no labels.
-
And then, at 19 weeks, we had the second, and even more exciting scan. The baby is really starting to look like a human now - with spine, limbs, heart, stomach ... and it's just too wonderful!
-
Ultrasound
Scan, showing our baby curled up and lying on its back (note the bright line of the spine). The head is to the right (skull is a bright outline) and it is kicking its legs (note the blurr of one foot on the left!).
-
Fourth Ultrasound
Scan, showing a head-and-shoulders of our baby. You can see the bones of one arm reaching towards the face. The head, in the centre of the picture, is in profile. This doesn't give the full impression of course, as it looks even better as you see the child kicking and wriggling and waving in real-time. Sadly that image is locked in my memory, and I can't share it with you.
She's arrived! Charlotte Jane is with us and after the initial kerfuffle, we've finally managed to get around to scanning some of the photos. Here are a few extracts from the first few rolls of film - up to 2 months old. Click on any of these links if you're mad enough...
